What does the RWA NT Health Workforce Team do?
Are you a General Practitioner with a Fellowship looking to improve your knowledge and skills? Are you looking for a change that will provide a unique, fulfilling, meaningful experience and an opportunity to make a difference in Indigenous health?
The Advanced Training in Remote Indigenous Health is designed to support doctors, at whatever level of experience, to attain new knowledge and skills that produce the competence and confidence to practice safely and encourage a long-term career in remote Indigenous health. The program is welcomed by the remote community members who desire competent practitioners who can provide holistic and culturally responsive care. The program is currently delivered through Aboriginal Medical Services (AMSs) with Indigenous people at the forefront of identifying community need and providing cultural education. Review the handbook for further information.
The NT Rural Generalist Pathway.
Dr Aly Knell became captivated by the NT working as a tour guide in the Alice Springs region. As someone who enjoyed the outdoors and was always interested in studying medicine, Aly was keen to combine aspects of the two by training to be a rural generalist. Watch Aly’s story here >>
Curious about a career as a rural generalist? NTGPE Rural Generalist Dr Rhys Harding’s placements have taken him to just about every corner of the Northern Territory, including Darwin, Alice Springs, Palmerston, Nhulunbuy and Katherine. See Rhys’s GP experience here >>
