“Doctor, the coroner is on the phone and wants to speak to you.”

Australia has an unintended prescription overdose problem with prescribed opioids, used alone or in conjunction with other substances, being a significant contributor in these avoidable deaths.

This education session will guide you through the clinical management of an overdose in the community and the core aspects of our role as GPs that can help prevent fatal overdoses.
It will focus on our conversations with patients, the assessment of overdose risk and the practicalities of incorporating prescription take-home naloxone as part of your overdose prevention strategy.
