General Practitioners (GPs) are central to the effective delivery of integrated care to support comprehensive management of atrial fibrillation (AF). This interactive education session will provide GPs with the knowledge to apply best practice recommendations for the screening, diagnostic work-up, pharmacological management, stroke prevention and integrated care of AF. Using case studies to highlight key practice points, this session will increase GP’s confidence and knowledge to apply evidence-based recommendations from the first Australian clinical guidelines for AF to optimise the care of patients in the community.
- Apply best practice recommendations for the screening and prevention of atrial fibrillation in the community
- Describe evidence based strategies for the diagnosis and management of atrial fibrillation
- Explain strategies for the prediction and management of stroke risk associated with AF including considerations for anticoagulation therapy
